Angelina Jolie and superhuman killing skills are the keywords for this year’s Wanted 2. James McAvoy is also on board with his character, as is Russian director Timur Bekmambetov.
Well, what to expect? The first Wanted was already such a disaster, is there any way to go on from there? Yes, there is the market of 13-year-old boys who think curving bullets is one of the greatest things they have ever seen, but that is not enough to make a movie good. We must therefore talk about Angelina Jolie, the woman with the talent, looks and image. Why she is involved in this project at all is of course a mystery, only she knows the answer to that one. She will however bring a lot of people to watch Wanted 2 online, because she is simply of the greatest actresses right now. Whether she has meaningful dialogue is irrelevant to many people, they just care how she looks. And she looks stunning obviously, like she always has. Unfortunately, if you want to make a movie, signing an A-list actress if course a huge achievement for unknown Russian director, but you need to continue to work on other aspects as well. There are many things this director should have in addition to Angelina Jolie. The biggest positive effect would be gained from a script. Without it, we are just watching actors doing something on screen that has no relative meaning to the previous and next scene. Effort has to be made to try and create one story, also called a plot, that would unite these collections of moving pictures into a movie. And no, the ability to curve bullets doesn’t compensate for this deficiency. Having a plot would also create the magical effect of making the actors believe in what they are doing, thus making their performance better, thus making it better when we watch Wanted 2 online. I’m not talking about Jolie here, but everyone else in this movie. If we want to analyse a little bit about why this director has failed so horribly in almost every aspect of his work, we have to look a little at his history. All his other movies were made in Russia and belong in the same genre. Somehow he got the opportunity to work with Angelina Jolie and have a chance at Hollywood and frankly, he panicked.
